Highlights

First tracks on Grand Hirafu, night skiing under the lights, the quiet Annupuri trees, a sulphur soak at Goshiki Onsen, ski-in/ski-out luxury at Park Hyatt Hanazono, and dinner at Setsu and Ki Niseko's An Dining

Day 01

Day 1 — Grand Hirafu and the Lights

Start on Grand Hirafu, the largest and most varied of the four faces, with the gondola straight up from the village. Ski the morning while the snow is coldest, lunch on the mountain, then rest before an early dinner and, if legs allow, the floodlit night skiing Niseko is famous for. Check into Park Hyatt Hanazono, ski-in, ski-out.

  1. Niseko Mountain Resort Grand Hirafu

    4h
    ニセコマウンテンリゾート グラン・ヒラフ

The largest and liveliest of Niseko United's four interconnected faces, rising from Hirafu village by gondola to the shoulder of Mt. Annupuri, with long groomers, tree runs and the gated backcountry that built the legend. It is also the face with night skiing — a stretch of piste lit until late, snow falling through the lamplight.

Season roughly late Nov–early May; an all-mountain Niseko United pass covers all four faces. A 1-day adult lift pass runs about ¥9,500–10,500 (approx., 2026 — confirm current rate). Gondola base in Hirafu village.

  2. Setsu Niseko (Lunch & Wellness)

    1h 15m
    雪ニセコ(昼食・ウェルネス)

A 2022-opened luxury complex at the heart of Hirafu with five dining venues and the village's largest wellness centre — the easy, polished place to break the ski day. Lunch ranges from a quick ramen counter to a proper sit-down, and the spa is there if the morning's powder has done its work.

In central Hirafu; dining venues vary in price and hours, several open midday (approx., 2026 — reserve the sit-down restaurants in peak season). Walk-in for the casual counters.

  3. Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono — Check-in

Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono — Check-in

    1h
    パークハイアット ニセコ HANAZONO — チェックイン

Niseko's flagship five-star, ski-in and ski-out on the Hanazono side with the gondola at the door, an onsen with a view of Mt. Yotei, and a serious spa. The natural luxury base for a powder trip — you can ski to the lift, ski back to the lobby, and never touch a shuttle.

Ski-in/ski-out, Hanazono side; premium winter rates (often ¥100,000+/night peak, approx., 2026). Alternatives at the top tier: Setsu Niseko (Hirafu), Zaborin (Hanazono, villa ryokan).

  4. Grand Hirafu Night Skiing

    Grand Hirafu Night Skiing

    2h
    グラン・ヒラフ ナイター

Niseko's signature evening ritual: a long pitch of Grand Hirafu stays floodlit into the night, and because the snow keeps falling, you get fresh, untracked powder under the lamps long after the day crowds have gone. Cold, quiet, and unlike night skiing almost anywhere else.

Night skiing typically runs to around 20:00–20:30 in season; covered by or added to the lift pass (confirm hours, which vary by month and weather, approx., 2026). Lit pitch on the Hirafu face.

Day 02

Day 2 — Quiet Annupuri and a Sulphur Soak

Cross to the Annupuri face for a calmer, more forgiving morning of tree runs and wide groomers, away from the Hirafu crowds. After lunch, leave the resort to soak at Goshiki Onsen, a remote wooden sulphur bath high on the pass, then return for a refined dinner at Ki Niseko's An Dining.

    Niseko Annupuri Kokusai Ski Area

    3h
    ニセコアンヌプリ国際スキー場

The westernmost and quietest of the four faces, all long mellow groomers and gladed tree runs that catch the same powder with a fraction of the Hirafu traffic. The connoisseur's choice for a relaxed powder morning, and the gateway to the gated backcountry gates on the Annupuri side.

Covered by the Niseko United all-mountain pass; linked to Hirafu by lift and ridge traverse. Season roughly late Nov–early May (approx., 2026). Base on the Niseko-town side.

  2. Ki Niseko — An Dining (Lunch)

Ki Niseko — An Dining (Lunch)

    1h 15m
    木ニセコ — An Dining(昼食)

The refined Japanese restaurant at the Ki Niseko hotel, plating 'Niseko cuisine' — seasonal Hokkaido seafood, beef and vegetables in a quiet, modern room at the base of the Hirafu gondola. A composed lunch after the Annupuri morning, walkable from the lifts.

At the Hirafu gondola base; reserve in peak season (approx., 2026). Also serves dinner if you prefer to flip the day.

  3. Niseko Goshiki Onsen
Photo by Yuri Li / Unsplash

    Niseko Goshiki Onsen

    1h 30m
    ニセコ五色温泉

A secluded mountain hot spring high on the pass between Annupuri and Iwaonupuri, where milky sulphur water — said to shift through 'five colours' with the light and weather — fills larch-wood baths in a simple ryokan. After two days on the snow, the most restorative soak in the area, and a world away from the village.

Day-use bathing available (around ¥800, approx., 2026); roughly mid-morning to evening. IMPORTANT: the access road is high and remote — it can close or require care in deep winter, so confirm conditions and access before setting out. About 25–30 minutes by car from Hirafu.

  4. Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono — Dinner & Onsen

    2h
    パークハイアット ニセコ HANAZONO — 夕食・温泉

Close the trip back at the Park Hyatt: its onsen looks across to Mt. Yotei, and its dining rooms — from teppanyaki to a contemporary grill — let you eat at the top tier without leaving the building after a long day on the snow. The reward at the end of the powder.

Hanazono side; reserve specialty restaurants ahead in peak winter (approx., 2026). Onsen and spa on site for guests.
